The Big Fish Fight

The Big Fish Fight

We love fish, and hate waste, so Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s ‘Fish Fight’ campaign to end discards is a welcomed campaign by us. Hugh’s Fish Fight Facebook page has raised a staggering 179,017 followers to date, all pledging their allegiance to end discards.

Here at Saucy Fish, we too fully support the high-profile campaign to end the scandalous waste of discards; it’s hard to believe that under current EU rules hard-pressed fishermen are required to throw around one million tonnes of dead fish back into the sea every year, after they have been caught.

But with the European Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) set to end in 2012 we now have a valuable chance to tackle this issue.

We take sustainability of our livelihood very seriously. We now have a chance to change the way in which CFP is set up, and we believe this will be good for the oceans, good for fish stocks, good for fisherman and good for those who have a passion for eating and cooking fish, just like us.

Join Hugh’s Fish Fight and let’s change this scandalous rule on fish discards. All the ways in which you can lend your support and get involved with the campaign can be found on the Fish Fight website – www.fishfight.net
